“Medicine and Law” Journal Information Scope of the Journal Medicine and Law is an international publication dealing with issues related to medical law, medical ethics and bioethics. The manuscript can be original research articles both quantitative and qualitative studies, perspective papers of scoping reviews of judicial decisions, legislation, literature, case law discussing recent developments in a specific topic of medical law or guiding practice for health and/or legal professionals and may include the perspective of the author(s). Examples of topics are law and ethics in healthcare, forensic medicine, sexology and law, psychiatry and law, psychology and law, dentistry and law, law related to nursing and allied health professional, pharmaceutical law, clinical criminology, drugs, alcohol, children and law, end of life care, health research ethics, bioethics, genetic engineering, organ transplantation, abortion, contraception, sterilization, euthanasia, religion, AIDS, AI in healthcare, regulation of telehealth, global health law, etc. The Journal has been in publication since 1980 and is member of CrossRef. Longer articles may be considered reporting qualitative studies. Authors can be asked to shorten the paper and re-submit. The manuscripts must be written in grammatically correct English and carefully checked before submission. Authors will be asked to undergo English editing before considering for review. The use of WORD is essential. The printed text on A4 paper must be double-spaced, justified – using Times Roman sized 11 points type – and printed on a laser printer. There should be a wide margin on the left-hand side of the paper only. All pages, including the title page, must be numbered consecutively. Tables, figures and any annexes must be set out on separate sheets, appended to the article. Please send your manuscript by e-mail as an attachment: jmedlaw@law.haifa.ac.il Title Page The first page of a manuscript must contain (a) a concise, informative title, (b) name(s) of each author, (c) institutional affiliation(s), and (d) email address of corresponding author(s). If title is long, the author(s) should propose short running title. Abstract and Keywords Each article must be prefaced by an abstract of up to 150 words summarizing the main objectives, findings and conclusions. A maximum of ten keywords should follow the abstract. Abbreviations Should be clearly defined the first time they are used. Full stops should be omitted. References and Bibliography Authors need to comply with the citation method OSCOLA. Attached please find the information on this method. References should be numbered consecutively in the text with a superscript number, this number correlating with each citation set out in a smaller typeface at the foot of each page. All relevant bibliography should appear within the footnotes included in the article, and no separate list of bibliography is allowed to be attached. In all matters of acceptance and publication of any article, the decision of the Editorial Board is to be regarded as final. Tables Each table must be printed on a separate page, typed double-spaced and clearly headed with the title and number corresponding with that in the text. Footnotes to tables should appear directly below the relevant table. Illustrations Illustrations and figures should be numbered consecutively and must be referred to in the text. Each must be printed on a separate sheet, including the author’s name and a clear caption. For clarity of reproduction, line drawings are preferable, and photographs may be transmitted digitally by e-mail, each with a separate caption. Permissions Authors must obtain permission in writing to use previously published material, with the exception of brief quotations. Correspondence about such permission must accompany the manuscript. All authors are required to sign a declaration to this effect. Copyright Submission of a manuscript implies that the work described has not been published before (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, review or thesis); that is not under consideration for publication elsewhere; that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities at the institute where the work has been carried out (where such approval is required by the institute itself); that, if and when the manuscript is accepted for publication, the authors agree to automatic transfer of the copyright to the publisher; and that the manuscript will not be published elsewhere in any language without the consent of the copyright holders.
