WAML Scholarship Regulations

1. Objective

The WAML Scholarship Program aims to support and encourage young professionals in the field of medical law by facilitating their participation in the annual WAML Congress.

2. Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Hold a master’s degree (or equivalent qualification).
  • Be no older than 35 years at the time of the congress.
  • Be a current member of WAML.
  • Submit a curriculum vitae (CV).
  • Submit an abstract to the WAML Scientific Committee prior to the specified deadline and receive acceptance.
  • Submit a three-page summary paper prior to the specified deadline and participate in the Young Scholars Award (YSA) session.

3. Scholarship Conditions

  • A maximum of 20 scholarships will be awarded per congress.
  • The scholarship amounts to USD 500, which may be used to cover the registration fee, travel costs, and/or accommodation expenses. Reimbursement will only be made upon presentation of invoices.
  • Each recipient is required, after the congress, to submit their presentation as a full article to the Journal of Medicine and Law for possible publication.
  • Each individual may receive a WAML scholarship no more than twice.

4. Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be evaluated by the WAML Scientific Committee on the basis of:

  • Originality of the contribution.
  • Scientific quality.
  • Clarity of expression.
  • Relevance to medical law and related fields.
  • Difficulty level of the subject.
  • Logical structure and proper grammar.

5. Award Procedure

  • Applications must be submitted within the announced deadline.
  • The Scientific Committee evaluates all eligible applications.  Decisions of the Scientific Committee are final and not subject to appeal.
